The cell is identified by the row number and column header, for example, <strong>B3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"411\" height=\"161\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/cell.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/cell.png 411w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/cell-300x118.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 411px) 100vw, 411px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Number of columns and rows in one sheet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the Excel version you use, there is a different number of rows and columns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Excel 2003<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In Excel 2003 there are <strong>65,536<\/strong> rows and <strong>256<\/strong> columns (<strong>IV<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Excel 2007 and newer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Excel 2007 the number of rows and columns is much bigger than before. This time there are <strong>1,048,576<\/strong> rows and <strong>16,384<\/strong> columns (<strong>XFD<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore the last cell is <strong>XFD1048576<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Determining the column number<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To know the number of rows is easy, but it\u2019s much more complicated with the column header. How you can quickly determine what is the header for the column 2000?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use the following formula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted lang:vb decode:true\">=LEFT(ADDRESS(ROW(),A2,2),FIND(\"$\",ADDRESS(ROW(),A2,2),1)-1)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Just enter it to a cell and type the number into cell <strong>A2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The column header for the 2000<sup>th<\/sup> column is <strong>BXX<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"346\" height=\"80\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/column-number.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/column-number.png 346w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/column-number-300x69.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to know more about other ways to get column header, read an article about <a href=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/en\/vba\/convert-column-number-to-letter\">this subject<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Navigating Rows and Columns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Moving one cell at a time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To move one cell <strong>left<\/strong>, <strong>right<\/strong>, <strong>up<\/strong> or <strong>down<\/strong> you can use keyboard arrows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Enter<\/strong> &#8211; move down<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tab<\/strong> &#8211; move right<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shift + Enter<\/strong> &#8211; move up<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shift + Tab<\/strong> &#8211; move left<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Moving to the first\/last column\/row<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To move to the last column, use <strong>Ctrl + right arrow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"261\" height=\"100\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/last-column.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3450\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To move to the last cell, use <strong>Ctrl + down arrow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"310\" height=\"121\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/last-row.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/last-row.png 310w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/11\/last-row-300x117.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It only works if you don\u2019t have any cell in your way, otherwise, it will stop on the last cell in this area. In this case, you have to use the keyboard shortcut one more time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the following example, I <a href=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/training\/selecting-cells\/\">selected cell<\/a> <strong>A2<\/strong>. Now I press <strong>Ctrl + right arrow<\/strong> and the cursor stops at <strong>C2<\/strong>.
