It\u2019s also the case if you want to do simple arithmetic operations such as addition or subtraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a look at the following example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"490\" height=\"140\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/01\/example.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3868\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/01\/example.png 490w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/01\/example-300x86.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 490px) 100vw, 490px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s add and subtract numbers in <strong>column A<\/strong> (<strong>A2:A5<\/strong>) to the <a href=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/formulas\/get-cell-value\/\">value in cell<\/a> <strong>C2<\/strong>. The most straightforward way is to add and subtract these numbers one by one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>D2: =C2+A2+A3+A4+A5<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>E2: =C2-A2-A3-A4-A5<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>But, it\u2019s not the most elegant way.
