We need to select our range, go to <strong>Insert &gt;&gt; Tables &gt;&gt; Pivot Tables<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, we will create the Pivot Table in a new Excel sheet:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"393\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-78.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-78.png 393w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-78-300x266.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 393px) 100vw, 393px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our new sheet will be simply named <strong>\u201cPivot Table\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In our table, we will filter our conference to be a Western one. We will put Players in Rows fields, Sum of points, and Sum of Assists in Values fields:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"251\" height=\"204\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-79.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6248\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our table now looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"376\" height=\"206\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-80.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-80.png 376w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-80-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 376px) 100vw, 376px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When we click on any field in our table, <strong>PivotTable Tools<\/strong> will appear above the <a href=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/training\/ribbon\/\">ribbon<\/a>. There are two tabs in these tools: <strong>Analyze and Design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Analyze subtab<\/strong>, the <strong>PivotChart icon<\/strong> is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"560\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-81.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-81.png 560w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-81-300x80.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We will select our range (starting from the third row in this case) and click on the <strong>PivotChart icon<\/strong>. <strong>Insert Chart<\/strong> window will appear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"637\" height=\"459\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-82.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-82.png 637w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-82-300x216.png 300w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-82-542x390.png 542w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 637px) 100vw, 637px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This window has numerous options for us to choose from, and they are pretty simple to use since the preview of every chart is located on the right side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not to complicate things too much, we will select the first one in line: <a href=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/training\/column-chart\/\">Columns Chart<\/a> with <strong>Clustered Column<\/strong> (the one in the picture above).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our chart looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"488\" height=\"303\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-83.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-83.png 488w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-83-300x186.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can automatically see the difference between the regular chart and the <strong>Pivot Chart<\/strong>. This difference can be seen in these greyed-out fields that represent just that- <strong>Pivot Table fields<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the conference is our desired filter for the <strong>Pivot Table<\/strong>, we can easily change it in the chart. This will automatically change the data in our <strong>Pivot Table<\/strong> as well:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"488\" height=\"298\" src=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-84.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-84.png 488w, https:\/\/officetuts.net\/excel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/word-image-84-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This operation functions both ways. We can either change the data in the <strong>Pivot Table<\/strong> or the <strong>Pivot Chart<\/strong>. It will not make much of the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will notice that the Player field is also greyed-out and that it has a dropdown arrow. This means we can also manipulate which player we want to include in the chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although this function makes our chart interactive, some users would prefer to exclude this option, to make the chart neater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a solution for this as well.
